We also have pickup changing service in the store
Choose from Passive, active, bass or acoustic pickup istallation
Option#1
Passive pickup installation
NOTE: during this setup, all strings must be removed from the guitar
in order to correctly install the pickups without damaging the
paint job by trying to maneuver under strings.
It is your choice whether or not you woudl also want a setup
after the installation. This service is an extra charge as it takes
roughly an hour an a half. Most customers want a full new
playing experience after getting new pickups.
Price is for a single pickup change, if doing two pickups at once the charge is $40.00 if done at the same time.
This active pickup installation process entails removing all existing electronics from a high impedance form to a new low impedance setup.
All pots, and jack and grounding wires must be removed to eliminate the possibility of a shock hazard.
Pots will be changed to a new 25K ohm style and a stereo jack, to incorportae the battery clip. You may choose from standard soldered hard wored more secure wiring or the newer clip on type that EMG has evolved to. We have many models in stock and offer discounts when purchasing the pickups while you are having the installation done. we offer 10% off of all pickups in this case. The charge for installation includes removal of all old pickups and wiring/controls and installing the new wiring, controls, batteryclip, etc
This service allows your acoustic to be amplified for live performance without a mic
The guitar will be evaluated as to which type acoustic pickup can be installed.
We recommend something that will least involve a permanent change to the guitar in case you ever want to remove it. The pickup we recommend highly is the Fishman Ellipse model that installs in the soundhole circumference. This allows minimal work and no alteration to the wood of the guitar and makes your acoustic just LOUDER and thats what you want. You don't want it electrified and the tone changing, just louder, The Ellipse will do that for you. There is a bridge transducer that mounts under the bridge saddle as well as a microphone part that suspends itself in the soundhole that allows the blending of both pickups for a totally versatile sound. This job roughly takes two hours and a full setup is required while installing this due to the bridge having to be modified. The total cost for installation and setup is $120.00
This does not include the price of the pickup itself
